The second half of Gundam Wing aired at the same time as Neon Genesis Evangelion. Comparing the two, Gundam Wing starts to feel inferior.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 cements the entire series as a fantastic action show full of tense and exciting mobile suit battles, and while some areas are an improvement over its first season, such as dialogue and character development, it feels weaker in others, particularly in its plot and pacing.

While Mobile Suit Gundam 00's deep political intrigue, wooden dialogue and reflection of real world problems may make this harder to get into at first, it does offer some great mobile suit action.

Kokkoku: Moment by Moment throws in a lot of interesting ideas around the consequences of stopping time, life and death amidst a cat-and-mouse game plot that sees one woman try to rescue her family from a crazed religious cult. However, it fails to execute on its potential as it struggles with poor pacing, gaping plot holes, and finding an ending for its characters.

While this might be the series that made Gundam popular in the USA, if you have seen the original 1979 series, then Gundam Wing feels rather repetitive.

While Dai Shogun's backstory speaks of some potential, it ends up going nowhere with its harem plot, with fanservice that is played too straight to be funny, while its animation leaves a lot to be desired.

Overall, Darling in the Franxx offers an exciting sci-fi mecha series that, while let down by a confused ending, aims to entertain. It’s not the best Studio Trigger anime by a long way, but if you enjoyed the first half then you’ll undoubtedly find something to like here.

Girls’ Last Tour is a very relaxing survival story that generates a lot of appeal from its comfy styling and deceptively cute presentation. Its slow pace and slice-of-life sensibilities may seem boring to some, but if you look past that, the series shows an engaging deeper narrative with a strong anti-war message.
